MANGRAL RAJPOOT BOOK PART 8
RAJA
The word Raja is not the name of a particular tribe or nation, but it is a royal address. Different rulers in their time used to write the word "Raja" with their names and thus their name was distinguished from others due to this title while his descendants were called Rajputs, that mean son of gthe Raja. Thus the word Rajput became very common.
Historically, the word was first used in the ancestry of the Mangral tribe by Raja Rao, the father of Raja Buk [Raja of Kashmir 355 BC, founder of Loharkot and Poonch forts], who was the founder of the Indian city of Malwa. In addition to the ancestors of the Mangral tribe, many other tribal kings, rulers or generals used the word Raja as a special adress to their name. Some other tribes used to write the words Malik, Sultan, Thakur, Raees, Maharaja, Shah, Badshah etc with their names.
Raja Amna Pal, the father of Raja Mangarpal, the ancestor of the Mangral tribe, who ruled over Rajouri from 1172 to 1217 A.D, wrote Raja with his own name. For the first time in Rajouri, the word Raja was used by Raja Prithvi Pal with his name. Raja Prithvi Pal ruled Rajouri from 968 to 1022 A.D and was also the founder of the Rajouri dynasty. Later, until 1217 A.D, Rajouri was ruled by the same Paul family and the word Raja was specially written with their own names. The last ruler of this Rajouri dynasty was Raja Amna Pal.
In the fifth generation of Mangarpal in the Mangral tribe, Raja Sahanspal used the word Raja with his name. Raja Sahans Pal was the ruler of Sahansa and is also the ancestor of the Mangral tribe [Kashmir]. Later rulers in his generation, who remained in power in their respective areas, continued to use the word Raja with their names. In the eighth line of Raja Sahans Pal, Raja Sarbland Khan alias Pahar Khan used the word Raja as a special word while ruling over Sarsawa area. The last Muslim ruler Kotli Mangaralan Raja Shah Sawar Khan who was a descendant of Sahans Pal also used the word Raja with his name.
