 SARSAWA

The Sarsawa area is like a valley with hills on all three sides, while the "Nala Rangar" to the south adds to its beauty. The mountain range to the east of the area separates it from Kotli. The hills to the north separate it from Sadhnauti district. The west-facing Nalla Rangdar not only separates the area from the south, but also irrigates farmers' fields.

Sarsawa was named by Raja Sir Buland Khan alias Pahar Khan in the late fifteenth century. When Raja Sir Buland Khan occupied this area, Poghal Rajputs lived here. Raja Sir Buland Khan alias Pahar Khan established his government here by defeating the Poghal nation and named this valley after himself. Raja Sarbland Khan is the ancestor of the Mangral tribe in this area. Before that, this nation was inhabited only in Sahansa.

Sarsawa consists of five Mouzas (Towns). The valley includes Mouza Sarsawa, Mouza Karnoti, Mouza Suraha, Mouza Chak Nasir and Mouza Glouin. The area of these locations is 36434 kanals 18 marlas, 8160 kanals 18 marlas, 2421 kanals 16 marlas, 20381 kanals 19 marlas and 309 kanals respectively. Thus the total area of Patwar constituency Sarsawa is 67713 kanals 10 marlas. According to the 1988 census, Sarsawa had a population of 7,000, while the 2010-11 census has a population of 13,100. Sarsawa is 2176 feet above sea level

Althrough each citizen of Sarsawar has contributed in the construction and development of Sarsawa area but history will never forgive if the names of a few people are not mentioned. The first person to liberate the area was Raja Sakhi Dalir Khan [Read the full story in the article "Raja Sakhi Dalir Khan"

The great personality who laid the foundation of post-independence construction and development of Sarsawa was Chaudhry Nizam-ud-Din who belonged to the Jat tribe and was a resident of Chak Naser. Chaudhry Nizamuddin Khan was an advisor to the government during the presidency of Brigadier Hayat Khan. He continued uncategorized construction and development plans. These included Veterinary Hospital, Boys Inter College, Rural Health Center, Supply Depot Atta, Sarsawa to Sagri Road, Power Transmission, Agriculture Department Office, Post Office, First Water Supply and many other projects which they completed. ۔

The third person is Raja Muhammad Ayub Khan who, as a member of the District Council, contributed to the construction and development even in the most unfavorable conditions [Full details in the article "Raja Muhammad Ayub Khan"]

The fourth figure is Raja Naseer Ahmad Khan, former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, who took a special interest in the construction and development of Sarsawa and brought the unfinished project to fruition. They changed the destiny of the area by providing roads, electricity and water from house to house. [See full details in the article "Raja Naseer Ahmad Khan".

Long before the time of the Maharaja, the area of Sarsawa was divided into three parts. These divisions were attributed to the three sons of Razzaq Khan, the eldest son of Raja Sir Buland Khan. The first division was known as Izzat Khanian, it was attributed to Razzaq Khan's eldest son Polaji alias Izzat Khanian. Second division is famous on the name of Sawar Khan alias Borhe Khanian and third division on Baji Khan alias Manjhi Khan alias Manjhi Khanian and even today these people know themselves according to these divisions.

During the reign of the Maharaja, one Zeldar and six Nambardars were appointed to run the Sarsawa administration. The numbereds were accountable to Zeldar while the Zeldar was directly accountable to the Maharaja. The only Zeldar of Sarsawa, Panjira, Anuhi Sarhota was Raja Saif Ali Khan of Gang Nara [see full details in "Zeldar Raja Saif Ali Khan"]. While the six numbardars were included Raja Ghous Mohammad Khan of Tangi Dhara, Raja Khaqan Khan of Syedpur,Raja Wali Dad Khan of Sayepur, Raja Mohammad Khan of Syedpur, Raja Mahand Khan of Gowda and Raja Faqiro Khan of Nali respectively, hence later Sarsawa got famous with the name “Chy bandaan” Sarsawa.

The largest community of Sarsawa is Mangral Rajput while other communities include Jats, Gujars, Sadhans, Mughals [Mistri, Tailor, Cobbler, Kasbi, Teli] Janhal, Awan, Malik, Qazi, Sambhal and Khokhar respectively.

No fruit trees grow naturally in Sarsawa, but guava, banana, peach, plum, apricot and mango trees have been planted in some places. While the berry trees are visible.

Special attention has also been paid to religious education in Sarsawa area. So far, Friday prayers have been organized in five mosques in Sarsawa while there are dozens of small and big mosques. Teaching continues in some of these mosques, where students continue to do Hifz-e-Quran (Learning whole Quran by Heart) as well as administration and social education. There are currently about a dozen Hufaaz-e-Karam (who learn whole Quran by heart)in the area. The system of mosques and religious education is under the management of Hazrat Pir Sahib Gulhar Sharif. After his demise, his younger son Hazrat Pir Zahid Sultani Sahib is looking after the whole system in the best possible way.

The Sarsawa area has made great strides in the field of education in the last few years. So far, there are six MBBS doctors and four engineers in the area. The following is a list of members of the Mangral tribe:

Education has created awareness among the people and changed their way of life. Education not only made them aware but also improved their financial situation. Most people are involved in agriculture. Many live in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai, Qatar, Spain and the United Kingdom. 70% of the area's population is financially stable. Shalwar kameez are usually embellished while sometimes paint coat is also worn.

People share each other's joys and sorrows. People do everything to help each other for example digging graves together. In marriage, their own tribes are preferred, and in other cases, marriages are seldom performed in other tribes. The abolition of “Rasm-e-Mayoo” is the greatest achievement of the region, while the rite of Mahdi is also performed. A wedding can't be imagined without photography and filming. The solemn feast on Waleema day, is an important part of the wedding ceremony.

The number of tombs of Awlia-e-Karam is about a dozen. The famous personality is Baba Sai Kalu Badshah whose annual Celeberation is celebrated with great fanfare and devotion [Read the full story in the article "Sai Kalu Badshah"

The government institutions in the area which are rendering services in teaching and learning include Boys Girls Inter College, Boys and Girls Middle School, Boys and Girls Primary School Suruha, Boys and Girls Primary School Nagi, Boys and Girls Primary School Chuck Nasir. Boys and Girls Primary School Chohara, Boys Middle School Sindhiri Kot, Boys and Girls Primary School Kotla and Girls Primary School Glouin, Boys Primary School Malikan Chhetar, Girls Primary School Saidpur, Boys Primary School Gali, Sonchal, Choona Pani and Siath. ۔

The largest of the privately run institutions is the Red Foundation School, which is run by the Jamaat-e-Islami affiliate. In addition, five other institutions are also making significant contributions in the field of education, while the only private institution is the Johani School, which is operating under the auspices of the Red Foundation.
